Find Your Happy Place

Joy’s Happy Place

When writing one important aspect is where you do it.

Now I don’t mean plant a flag and decree you will only write from your chosen place. You will get almost no writing done if you do that.

Procrastination is real and the easiest is just avoid where you designate your writing spot.

“See I can’t write today because I couldn’t find a way into my office. The door was shut and blocking my way in.”

When that happens it’s time to find your “Happy Place”. Mine is a local coffee house that serves teas, coffees and espresso in quirky mugs when dining in.

The vibe of people coming and going. Some staying to work others, others just nipping in for a drink has a way of reminding me that life beyond my screen goes on.

To say it’s Magical for me and my muse is a nice play on the name of the shop. I admit the quirkiness is also a big pull for me. The angsty music I can use or ignore as my writing needs it. D

Important tip don’t forget your headphones when writing in a public space. They can tone down the mood if it starts distracting you.

Not to mention for those who love to people watch, like me, it can be too distracting. Sometimes the stories I make to go with what I overhear get engaging enough that I forget the story I’m supposed to be working on.
